Programme Objectives

The objectives of the degree programme in Agricultural and Environmental Engineering are as follows:

  • To train professional candidates capable of applying engineering principles and practices to the solution of problems in agricultural production, processing, storage and the environment.
  • To train engineers capable of removing or reducing the drudgery inherent in agricultural operations and create incentives to have skilled people remain on the farm as well as guarantee quality environment.
  • To train engineers capable of reducing the hazards of farming by engineering safer operations and optimizing time in agricultural production.
  • To train engineers who can design processes and machines, manufacture, utilize, maintain and repair equipment for agricultural and environmental activities.
  • To train engineers who can improve on, or retain the quality of farm products, over a period of time, through the modification or control of the environment.
  • To train engineers who can conserve and manage more efficiently natural and man-made resources, and the environment.
  • To train engineers who can compete favourably in the job market as well as being self employed.
